Denim "Pocket" Coasters

Remember when I got these pockets out and used them for putting silverware and napkins in to set the table...well I needed a coaster the other day and these work great....although I do think that little kids pants pockets would work better....I know what I'm going to be shopping for this summer at garage sales....little girls and boys pants...those will be so cute....if anyone makes any sooner send me a pic so I can post it...

Decorator Pillows

Decorator Pillows

My Daughter has been at it again...she is just
whipping out craft projects left and right... woo hoo!

I had a bag downstairs of old clothes going to  Goodwill or
somewhere like it and she asked me if she could have the white sweaters
in there...of course I asked for what...and this is what she
came up with.

for the one above, she took part of the sleeve and made a little decorative
touch to the front...so cute and will look so nice in her
soon to be white, off white and gold room...

She took some pillows she had purchase at a thrift store and covered
them with the sweaters we already had....
I think they turned out soooo cute!

you could also buy some new ones at Walmart

Strip Pieced Quilt Squares

Strip Pieced Quilt Square

You need
71/2 in. squares of some kind of material for the base,
71/2 in. square pieces of phone book paper,
White 1 1/4 in. strips of material and
1 1/4 in.  strips of whatever other kind of material you want for your squares...

I had a thought while putting these together .....that
a red white and blue one would look neat...now is the
time to start because believe it or not July will be here before
you know it....  :-)

these are fun to make and really fun
to put together and see what the whole thing looks like...

February Quilt Block

Here is February's block

Again it was using the Thangles which make doing
 half square triangles a breeze

I can't wait to start adding the brown fabric
around each square...woo hoo!

Here is a view of what the square would look like together....
Which was quite a surprise for me. :-)

And this is what the pattern looks like

Good luck...this one was a little tricky for me...I'm not sure why...
maybe I was just having a bad quilt day...
but I was having a hard time getting the seams
to line up.

January Quilt Block

Well, here it is....January's quilt block.

Thanks to

It was fairly simple to put together and heck the lady at the quilt store did all the cutting of the strips for me....(which I've decided cutting is my least favorite part of quilting....)

All I had to do was cut the squares and I used the "Thangles" to do all the half square triangles.  It was my first time using those and it makes them so much easier.

I always had problems with half square triangles before these things came along....they make quilting life much better.  My regular squares are 3" squares and these are the size thangles "the quilt lady"  said I needed. :-)
check em out!

you lay your 3" strips on top of each other....using the dark on the bottom and the light on top,
then pin the Thangle on and sew on the dotted lines and then cut on the dark lines.
when you open it up and iron it...voila! you have a half square triangle...wonderful!

check out Dritz's other products and where to find them.

My family brought me this handy little gadget a while back....which gives you an
idea of what a whole quilt would look like made of this block...
it's two mirrors that you set on the edge of your block so you can see it with maybe 4 more blocks added
without having them made yet.

Check for this at ...

My quilt is going to be a sampler quilt...so all my blocks will be different.

this is the pattern I used.

Let me know if you've ever made a quilt of all this block or if you decide to
make one....I'd like to post a pic...  :-)

I'm thinking....

Well here I am again to tell you that my brain is working a little slow these days to come up with crafting ideas....I am in a quilting mode right now and that tends to get me off the regular craft kick for a while.

I am doing a "block a month" quilt through a local quilt shop.  It is my first time for this and so far I'm liking it...of course it is only January.  :-)  The January block is done and I'm off to start February's block.

I decided to ask for some of the other pieces of the quilt so that maybe I could start putting rows together....I'm not sure what I was thinking....do they give these out for free?....I don't think so.

When I got up to the register...somehow thinking she was just going to hand the fabric over...she said..."that will be $75.00......WHAT!????   again...I don't think so....eeeks!!!  for some reason my very stressed brain was not ready for that little tid bit.  So I passed on getting the rest of it for now and started thinking that maybe I should be making little monthly installments when I pick up my block each month....then it wouldn't be so bad at the end.

I will post a pic of the first block tomorrow....or later today, as it is 3am....I'd better get this brain to bed.
